She is a proficient case manager with over 18 years’ experience working clinically as an occupational therapist with adults and children who have severe and complex disabilities including brain and spinal injury and complex orthopaedic/polytrauma. She has worked with parents of newly diagnosed children and gained extensive experience with complex paediatric conditions including genetic, chromosomal disabilities, spinal injury (including tetraplegia), global development delay and epilepsy.
Nicola has been a practising occupational therapist since 2003, working in different sectors including statutory services and charities.
She has experience in carrying out comprehensive assessments, providing specialist equipment and advising on housing adaptations for disability for both adults and children.
She has worked with children and adults in her case management role by co-ordinating their assessed needs, including recruitment and supervision of staff and managing complex care situations. She has excellent knowledge of Education Health Care Plans and liaising with schools and professionals to promote development of the child’s skills.
Nicola has carried out case management and expert witness work since 2016 and has a good understanding of the medical legal process.
